Banana Bash 2008
Two members (and our RA) of the St John’s Wood Rover Crew recently attended the Banana Bash 2008, a get-together of many of Brisbane’s Rover Crews to pit their bash cars against each other in a number of races and challenges. At the moment our vehicle is not in a sufficient state to be raced, however we have recieved offers for bash-worthy vehicles.
We witnessed a crash of epic proportions, when Sunnybank’s vehicle (the red one shown below after the accident) fishtailed and slammed into a tree stump. Their rear (tubeless) wheel was pushed out of its rim, and they had to do a quick pit stop to get back to the finish line. For full gallery of images, visit the Banana Bash ‘08 Album. Rovers go Bowling
We've decided that we're going to have dinner tonight @ Naples Restaurant @ 6:30pm, then start Rovers @ 7:15pm. Bowling is at Milton Bowl @ 8pm. The evening was attended by a number of friends, with a short discussion about Rovering at the end of the bowling.

Paul Brake & Lindsay Adams Boot
4 Mar 1984 - Paul Brake & Lindsay Adams Boot – Flanagan’s Reserve
We had the annual crew reunion the night before, which didn’t wrap up until 3 am. We then met at the den at 9 am for the boot. I suggested a menu and then Gumby (David Stevenson) & I purchased the food.
We left around 12 noon after a discussion with GL Vince Wragg re the treasurer’s books. Picked up some alfoil on the way.
We arrived at Flanagan’s reserve at 3:15 after meeting at Rathdowney. There is a new camping area there with toilets, BBQs and tables.
Paul Rose supervised the food preparation. We forgot to put the meat on till 4:30. I prepared the boot certificates and they were finished around 7:00 pm. By that time I was out of ribbon, dots and patience. Then the rain started.
We had nibbles at 6:00 pm (mainly leftovers)
7:15 soup
7:45 main course (meat was “rare”)
Lots of wine
10:00 dessert
The torch failed whilst we were collecting water.
10:45 Presentations and photos
Singing.
Fred fell asleep, then Bob.
Ken, Paul Rose, Carsten and Fred left around 11:30 pm
I went to sleep, and then the others around 1:00 am.
Lindsay and Chris left 7:00 am the next morning.
We cleaned up. Breakfast was by JD – very red rissoles.
We left around 1 pm, with Bob & Gumby heading to the coast, and I dropped Luke home on the way.
